Work in Action:

In the summer of 2025, Ashna Patel and her team visited over 250 elementary school students and led interactive lessons on vitiligo awareness. Through fun art activities, thoughtful questions, and memorable story telling, Melanin Mosaic empowered young students to treat the beautiful condition with compassion.

We seek to normalize vitiligo and encourage open conversations within the community by raising awareness in youth and minimizing the stigma associated with it..

Ashna Patel

FOUNDER

I was first diagnosed with vitiligo at the age of five, and learning to truly accept it was not easy. Many of my peers didn’t understand what vitiligo was, so I often found myself in the position of having to explain it, even while I was still struggling to accept it myself. Balancing both was
challenging, especially as I faced bullying along the way.

Now, ten years later, I feel brave and confident in my own skin. I believe no child should have to experience the confusion or isolation I once felt, which is why I created this organization, to
promote self-love and encourage open, honest conversations about vitiligo.

Through this organization, I hope to create a safe, supportive space where children affected by vitiligo can connect with others and feel understood.
